It is quite unusual to change the syntax of syntax - and I don´t remember situation like this in the Microsoft world.
So LOOKUPVALUE is an exemption. In a March version it got a new parameter - value, defining what has to be shown when no value is matched.
It is an interesting approach - if we had the same logic in VLOOKUP in Excel, no complicated combinations with IFERROR and IFNA would be necessary.
